NEWS
Monday 23 October 2:57 PM AEST (GMT+10)
Guess what? I'm back................ Unfortunately, it is not for long. A bit more than a week ago my
motherboard was fried by another person's dead CPU, I don't know how, and it was 2 months out of warranty. :( So. I'm writing to you now from a *gasp* Duron 950 system. Abit KT7-RAID of course...
Anyway,
as you can see from the loooooooooong time since I've updated this FAQ, I haven't been keeping up to date with all that's been going on in the newsgroups.
So... if anyone is interested in taking this FAQ and making it their own, I'd like you to email me at torment_ca@hotmail.com
. Please only email me if you can make the time to maintain this site, unlike me this past few months. Also, it'd be best if you could host the site somewhere local to you, if possible.
Thank you all for your time, and I hope that this site has been as useful as was intended. Luke Friday 21 July 7:12 PM AEST (GMT+10) Added a link to an argument against the MOS-FET issues
regarding Coppermine compatibility, on the navigation menu (to the left). Friday 21 July 6:53 PM AEST (GMT+10) Added question 'How do I enable ACPI in Windows 2000?' to the FAQ.Sunday 16 July 1:14 PM AEST (GMT+10)
Correction made, the SS bios for the 1.0 boards doesn't OFFICIALLY support coppermines. Sunday 9 July 12:24 PM AEST (GMT+10) Updated the issue of Coppermine compatibility to reflect the recent bios
releases for both the 1.0 and 1.1 boards. Saturday 8 July 11:21 AM AEST (GMT+10) New bios out for 1.0 boards, it's SS. Does exactly the same as the SP bios for the 1.1s.
Tuesday 4 July 5:59 PM AEST (GMT+10) A new bios, SP, is out for the 1.1 boards. It adds support for Coppermines up to 850, and Celerons up to 700. You can get it on the Bios Info page.Friday 23 June 12:31 PM AEST (GMT+10) Ok, people have been getting Coppermines to work
no matter what MOS-FET chip their board has, whether it be 45N03, 50N03, 55N03, L3103S, and any more that are out there! argh. Sunday 18 June 8:16 PM AEST (GMT+10) I just noticed a reply to a post asking
if the BH6 1.0x could use a Coppermine, and Alex Chen of Abit replied a simple 'Sure'! Nothing about MOS-FET chips or IC numbers! However, I'm gonna leave that question alone, so you guys get to know your board a
little better... lol. Saturday 17 June 6:36 PM AEST (GMT+10) Updated the Coppermine question with a picture of the MOS-FET chip. If it is in a different place to a 1.1's, could someone possibly get a
picture of it and send it to me? Also added a point saying there's no difference between using a slot 1 or FC-PGA processor except for the quality of the slotket. Friday 16 June 8:42 PM AEST (GMT+10)
Changed the question 'What processors can I use in a BH6?' to 'Can I use a Coppermine processor in my BH6?' in the FAQ. Many people are interested in this question, rightly so. :)
Thursday I5 June 4:54 PM AEST (GMT+10) OK, I know there's a lot of people out there with 1.0x boards saying they have a 1/4 pci divider. But, the clock generator on the 1.0x boards does NOT support it. As
such, I've updated the question in the FAQ.Thursay 15 June 2:14 PM AEST (GMT+10)
Updated the question 'What CPU can I use in my BH6?' in the FAQ. I've seen Abit tech support in the newgroups
lately, all I have to say is GOOD! They give an explanation for why early BH6 1.0x boards don't support the Coppermine, and how you can check to see if yours can. Read it!Monday 12 June 10:21 PM AEST (GMT+10)
Added question 'How do I use an LS-120 as a replacement for a floppy drive?' to the FAQ. Monday 12 June 10:00 PM AEST (GMT+10) Added question 'Can I use a 256 Mb RAM stick in my BH6?' to the
FAQ. Also updated the 'What size hard drive can I put in my BH6?' question.
Saturday 10 June 7:09 PM AEST (GMT+10) Sorry, the zip files I made for 'auto-flashing' don't work, but I've fixed the problem, and they should work now. I'm a dumbass.
Saturday 10 June 3:50 PM AEST (GMT+10) Added question 'My BH6 won't boot, I fiddled with it too much. Help!' to the FAQ
. :)Saturday 10 June 1:41 AM AEST (GMT+10) Added a Details
page, showing the pros and cons of a BH6 motherboard, both revisions.Friday 9 June 8:50 PM AEST (GMT+10) Added an important part to
Bios Info, 'Precautions when Flashing (or F&$K I've Hosed my BioS!)' Very useful as a backup tool before you flash your bios, or if you've hosed your bios and don't know
how to fix it. :)Friday 9 June 7:00 PM AEST (GMT+10) A post from an Alex Chen from Abit in alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.abit states that the QN bios, previously beta, is now official for the 1.0x. And so
the Bios Info page has been updated. Also I updated the FAQ question 'What CPUs can I use in my BH6?' with separate parts for the 1.0x and 1.1.Thursday 8 June 11:56 PM AEST (GMT+10)
Added info on what the SEL100#/66 Signal setting in bios is/was used for, in Bios Info.
Thursday 8 June 11:49 PM AEST (GMT+10) I decided some news would be helpful so youz could see what's changed. The answer to the question of a 1/4 pci on a bh6 1.0x is still not concrete, there have been
conflicting Sisoft Sandra reports in the NGs.
